Reopening Health and Safety Procedures

May 2021

With the health of our staff and visitors our priority, we have worked hard to ensure a safe and enjoyable visitor experience as our museum reopens to the public from Tuesday 25th May 2021. It might be unusual to see a staff member in a face mask and gloves, but the safety of our staff and guests will be paramount.

Social distancing will be in place and all HSE hygiene and cleaning advice will be strictly adhered to. All museum staff have received Infection Prevention and Control Techniques Training. Please follow the new safety signage in place, we want you to enjoy your visit so it is essential you follow and agree to our guidelines when booking.

We’ve implemented a number of measures in line with Fáilte Ireland's Safety Charter, including:
- Designated time slots, limited to 30 people every 15 minutes
- Regular cleaning and disinfecting throughout the museum
- Masks must be worn at all times while visiting the museum
- Sanitising stations on entry, exit, at the front desk and throughout our museum's galleries
- All interactive touch-screens will be cleaned after each visit
- Free downloadable audio guide app to your own mobile device

Welcoming Visitors
We cannot wait to meet you here in ‘Tipperary’s Hidden Gem’ and look forward to welcoming you. Our team will be on hand to make sure you know where to go and make you aware of our strict rules around wearing masks, sanitising & respecting social distancing throughout your visit. Be assured our team will be cleaning all interactives after every use. The museum is setup as a one-way system – Entrance at first gallery and exiting through our temporary gallery space, down the long corridor.

For Your Safety
Before visiting the Tipperary Museum of Hidden History, visitors should assess their health. Do not visit if you have symptoms of COVID-19, are self-isolating, are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test or have been in contact with someone who has the virus. Patrons who do not adhere to the health and safety protocols outlined by staff while visiting Tipperary Museum of Hidden History will be asked to leave the premises immediately. If you feel more comfortable wearing a face mask during your visit, we encourage you to do so.

Our multi-media devices will be available. Their content can be accessed by scanning a QRCode or similar via your smart phone. If you would like to bring your own headphones, we have set up a system for you to use them safely on some digital interactive displays.

Toilets
One fully equipped toilet is available on-site which includes wheelchair accessibility and baby changing facilities. It will operate on a strictly one-in and one-out system so bear in mind that you may have to queue. The tour route is fully wheelchair accessible. If possible, please let us know in advance if you are visiting with additional or different needs.

No Smoking/ Eating
Smoking is not permitted in the museum building. All children/minors must be supervised at all times during their visit by parent/ guardian.
Eating and drinking within the viewing galleries is strictly prohibited

Tipperary Museum of Hidden History Opening Hours

We have reduced the number of visitors entering the museum to ensure social distancing is achievable at all times. For the months of May - Oct 2021 we have changed our opening times and introduced scheduled visiting times:

Tuesday – Saturday

Closed Sunday, Mondays & Bank Holidays

(Opening days and hours will be reviewed in the coming months)

Session 1: 10am -11am Sensory hour

Session 2: 11.30am – 12.30pm

Lunch Closed 1-2pm for Intensive cleaning

Session 3: 2pm – 3.45pm

Closing 3.45pm – 5pm for Intensive cleaning

Admission is still free!

Advance Booking & Limited Queuing Entry Only

All visits must be pre-booked in advance.  Please book your time slot by emailing museum@tipperarycoco.ie or call us on 0761 06 5252

Casual visitors arriving without pre-booking at the main entrance may only gain entry to the museum if conditions and numbers already within permit. Please do not arrive too early as you will be asked to wait outside in a socially distanced queue.

There’s ample paid car parking spaces available outside of the Museum building.

Loans / Donations

Please note if you would like to donate / loan material to Tipperary Museum, we would request you email the museum at museum@tipperarycoco.ie with an image of the item(s) you wish to donate. If item(s) are deemed appropriate for our collection we will then schedule an appointment for you to come to the museum to donate said item(s).  


Our current major exhibition is themed around The Tipperary War of Independence 1919 – 1921 and is open from May 25th 2021.
